What is dumpster diving?
Is dumpster diving illegal in Sweden?
According to the Human Rights Watch, there are no laws or other regulations in Sweden concerning dumpster diving specifically. However, it can be charged with theft or unlawful disposession if the dumpsters are not freely accessible and one would break a lock or unlawfully enter private property. So far, we have not had any problems with supermarket staff, security or police. We usually go 15 minutes after the supermarket closes to make sure we are not disturbing their business.
